The effectiveness of the Delphi program can be seen in the results obtained with students. Our Middle School students take the California Achievement Tests (CAT) annually, regularly scoring at least one grade level ahead of age and quite often two and three grade levels ahead. But the results that mean the most to us can be found in the attitudes and behavior of our students, as well as in the enthusiasm and support from our parents. We invite you to find out for yourself what our students and their parents say they have gained from the Middle School program.

Success Stories from Students

"At Delphi Boston they taught me about finding your misunderstood word and looking it up in a dictionary. This was a really big change for me because when I went to public schools they didn't ask you to look anything up. So in this school I had to get use to using a dictionary. It was really hard to get use to. But now it's easy. And because of this my vocabulary has expanded. "
T.V., Age 12

"I wasn't learning much at my old school and I started to get bored. My third year there it was the same way, and they were trying to say that I couldn't learn and that I had some problems. That's when my mother called Delphi Academy. I didn't want to leave my old school because I liked the kids there but I didn't like the education. When I came to visit Delphi Academy I had such a wonderful time. I told my mother that I wouldn't mind going to Delphi and she was very happy. When I finally started coming here I loved it. Diana was my teacher and she's really cool. Trish was my math teacher and she was my favorite math teacher in the world. Paula helped me with my reading and really kept me on track. I love her! Jeff was my P.E. teacher and he still is. I love P.E. because I'm very athletic. Jeff knows how to have a lot of fun. Amy and Tony are my teachers now and they are so great. Amy is the best. She helps a lot even when I'm not doing what I'm not supposed to be doing. That's one thing I love about the teachers here. I have a lot of friends here too and they are all very great people. Delphi Academy has taught me a lot and I really appreciate it. I am so happy I came here when I did. But I do wish that I came here from the very beginning. I really love this school and the education I am getting!"
S.E., Age 13

"When I first came to Delphi I was 7 years old. I was at a public school before. I learned how to read at Delphi. I was placed in Paula's Primary 1 class. Now I'm in middle school and I have learned so much. My mom always says that I know more than her. At Delphi the teachers really make an effort to help you understand what your studying. My favorite subject is History. I love to learn about other countries, and about their life style. Some countries are less fortunate than us, here in the USA. My favorite teacher was Trish Rouelle. She helped me so much with my math. I am really thankful that she was there to help me. I have been at Delphi for six years and all of them have been made up of fun."
M.M., Age 12

"This has been my first year at Delphi Academy. It was a very big change for me, leaving my friends behind and going to a new school, but all that changed when I spent a day here. The students were really nice, the teacher, Amy, was really nice and acted like she wanted to be there. The students & teachers all seem to have a good student-teacher relationship. That was really important to me. So far, I've had a lot of fun, but working hard at the same time. The change for me was big, but I definitely think it was worth it. "
D.G., Age 14

"At my old school, you would be reading along in your book and never look up any words. We (the students) were yawning, tired and not understanding the book at all. At Delphi, I learned from a course called Learning How To Learn how important it is to look up your words. My teacher Amy is very nice and encourages me and helps me finish all the work in my program."
K.C., Age 12

"When I came to Delphi it changed the way I learned things. I have learned a lot of different subjects by actually going out and doing some of the things, and by the end of each course, I fully understood everything."
D.D., Age 13

"Wow! I am learning so much at Delphi, it's amazing. Things that were really hard in my other school I can now sail through, knowing them completely. I was talking to a friend about her school and she only reads four books a year. I read over eight books a month! Not only do you learn tons of things, but you have fun doing it. Now I actually look forward to school instead of hating it! Delphi has helped me so much."
Lindsey, Age 13

The following comments were made by students graduating from Delphi Academy (equivalent to 9th grade)...

"At Delphi, I have learned the basics: reading, writing, math, literature, history and science. But what I consider the most important is that over the years I have developed personal integrity, good ethics and more, all contributing to the fact that I am proud to be me, and I'm even prouder to be a Delphi graduate."
Melissa

"At Delphi, you're not studying for the tests; you're studying because you know you'll use everything you learn. Using Delphi's program has given me complete understanding of everything I've studied. Through the application of Study Technology and determination, I've discovered my goals in life and exactly how I'm going to achieve them!"
Nicole

"A couple of weeks into my first month I found myself learning. Not only did I find myself learning, I was also reading which, believe me, was not my favorite subject! I can gladly say it is now one of my favorite subjects along with a lot of others. Now I know I can do things on my own. I also learned to be who I want to be not what other people want me to be, and that was my biggest achievement of all."

Success Stories from Parents

"Matthew started at Delphi three years ago. He had just started grade five in a Catholic school in our town. He was faltering under the weight of homework––your basic daily assignments, plus weekly reports. Meetings with his teacher only led to further frustration on my part. Matthew wasn't being taught how to write reports. He wasn't being taught how to manage his time. The teacher felt that Matthew would soon pick up these skills. This approach was causing stress from Matthew both at home and school.

"I was soon getting calls from the school that Matthew was sick. I knew I had to do something! I had heard of Delphi, but was unsure about whether this would be the best choice for my son. After my first phone conversation with the Admissions Director, I felt a connection that I didn't think would be possible for a parent and a school. Upon touring the school, my husband and I only became further impressed by the competency of the students and the dedication of the staff. We became Delphi believers. We wanted Delphi for our son.

"One of the first skills Matthew learned was understanding the barriers to study. This enabled Matthew to see that he had too steep a gradient in some areas, lack of mass in other areas and some misunderstood words. Matthew no longer thought of himself as stupid. He was able to recognize the symptoms of the barrier. This enabled him to do something to solve his own educational problems. He started taking control of his learning.

"The multi-sensory approach of the checksheets made knowledge more concrete. Understanding how long the checksheet was supposed to take allowed a schedule to be developed. This ensured an on time completion. The important life skill of time management was being taught at school!

"Although my degree is in education, I did further studies in business and finance. As an accountant, I expect quantitative results. Matthew's standardized test scores have improved each year. He has completed his Forms on time. His training at Delphi allowed him to attain his own goal of acceptance to Xaverian Brothers High School.

"So, at this time, my husband and I would like to say a heartfelt Thank You! The staff at Delphi have honored their commitment to my son. They have made him a believer in himself and a seeker of knowledge!"
Denise

"I have noticed a major change in Katie since she has been in your class. In the last month there has been a very large shift in her communication skills. We are seeing her engage in conversation with adults and hold her own. She's funny and very polite and quick with her responses. This is all new to us and we are excited and proud of Katie. I know we need to give Katie the credit, yet you have been a role model and 'hung in there' with Katie (and us) to allow her to blossom. Thank you for being who you are and being the great education/teacher/supervisor (whatever you prefer) to our children."
